Dena Brechtl currently serves as the head girls basketball coach at her alma mater, Waterford Union High School, where she also teaches mathematics. Dena is currently starting her 13th year as the the varsity head coach, and she served as the varsity assistant coach for 7 years prior to that.
As an assistant, she helped lead the Wolverines to a D1 state runner-up finish during the 2005-06 season. As a head coach, she has led her team to 5 regional championships and 2 conference championships. She also was selected as the head coach for the D2 South all-star team in 2019.
Dena is in her 3rd year with Impact, where she will assist with the 2029 Johnsen team during the 2023 season.
